I might take a look at Comodo, i'm also behind a NAT router and using the XP firewall my laptop has been so much faster since removing Zonealarm. I might just stick with the Windows firewall i'm aware that it doesn't perform real outbound filtering but i always logon as a restricted user and run upto date AV so i'm not too worried about software installing without my knowledge. I must admit though I've never really noticed any performance issues with it, and I have a 3 year old Dimension at home so it's not exactly a beefy PC I'll try this comodo out over the holidays!

Last edited 12th July at PM. I downloaded the latest release of ZA, uninstalled the version on my machine and then installed the latest version.

Yeah just install the patch and continue using Zonealarm if you want. Never had any problems yet. I installed the patch but ditched zonealarm and things are moving along much more swiftly now. If was installed on the DNS server, there is a known memory leak issue in the DNS process associated with this hotfix. The issue has been fixed by installing hotfix patch Please read more about it in the following link, where you can also request the hotfix.
