Windows xp very slow login

I would hold off on reinstalling Windows XP. I would certainly not consider installing Windows 7! Right click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this information.

I would be interested in seeing a Disk Defragmenter report. Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse. Now find VolumeC. Open the file, and place the cursor anywhere in the file, select Edit, Select All to highlight all text and copy and paste into the body of your message. Do this before running Disk Defragmenter as it is more informative. I also recommend you click on the More Options tab, System Restore and remove all but the latest System Restore point.

Run Disk Defragmenter. Using the System restore option is most appropriate when your system is running slow and you need to increase free disk space on your C partition. If you have errors which might be resolved using System Restore to put your system settings back to before the error first occurred do not use this option.

If more than one person uses the computer and they have their own user Log on you need to run Disk CleanUp in each user profile to remove all unwanted files. A better programme than Disk CleanUp is cCleaner.

Removing System Restore points can be important if you have limited free disk space. The ability to remove them is one of the Tools options. You can selectively remove those created at less important times.

Do not use this tool as like any registry cleaner it can lead to the creation of very difficult to resolve system errors. You should investigate the reason why the computer is slow.

The hardware may be incapable of handling the damands placed on the system by the user any better. Does it have sufficient RAM? Are there unnecessary demands being placed on the system? Is the system error free? Are all the devices working properly. Is the computer free of malware? Clean installs are not necessarily the solution whenever a computer is running slow. As a slight variation to this solution, I solved the same problem the OP had by removing a GP Preference item that was attempting to install a printer that no longer existed rather than requiring user input.

I enabled this in gpedit. Add a comment. Greg Askew Greg Askew MDMarra OrganizedChaos OrganizedChaos 1 1 bronze badge. This is wrong. You should be using the subdomain on a registered domain that you own for your AD. So if your site is example. As long as the clients are configured to use the Domain Controllers for DNS, there's no reason to ever discourage anyone from using a.

Under no circumstances should you ever use a fake TLD like. MDMarra so I went to lookup your answer to prove you wrong, because in the past this was widly considered best practice. I see that now, it's recommended to go with a public DNS name and use the subdomain like you mentioned because it's unique. If your company were to merge, you wont have any issues with merging two AD's with the same name etc Would help if you supplied a reason as to why he should run your script.

I've checked for viruses, etc. I have realised that when i leave my computer on the log in screen for a couple of minutes, and then log in, it logs in straight away, so therefore maybe it isn't a login problem?
